Congratulations to Robert Miller and Miller's Butch. Winner of the 2011 Oklahoma Region Elimination Trial!

On August 27th we were regretfully informed that Robert Miller had to put Butch to sleep that morning as the result of an ongoing battle Butch has been fighting with an infection. Butch fought back from this infection once to win the 2011 OK Region Elimination title.
Miller's Butch was whelped June 22, 2004. His dam was Finishing Touch Kelly, he was sired by Trail's End Bad Boy. Butch's abilities (and sometimes antics) are well known and loved by both the Oklahoma region and others. During his NSTRA career Butch accumulated 83 open points and became a 4xCH. Butch's other accomplishments include 2nd runner-up at the 2007 Oklahoma Region Elimination Trial, 1st Runner-up at the 2010 Owens Midwest National Trial, and of course 2011 Oklahoma Region Elimination Winner. As a result of these impressive accomplishments Butch will be inducted in the OK Region Hall of Fame.
Those who knew Butch knew he was a threat to win the field every time he ran. We also knew he loved to give Robert headaches on occasion too, as he sometimes wanted to hunt beyond the boundaries of the field. However, Robert and Butch worked together to always be strong competitors. Robert buried Butch at Danny Lemons' trial grounds in Copan, OK where he placed so many times. He ironically chose to bury him in a part of the field considered out of bounds for most trials held there, and laid him to rest with his 2011 OK Region Elminiation Championship belt buckle. Butch will be missed by all.

We want to thank you for visiting our web site and invite you to check our pages for information on our organization and the Oklahoma Region.
There is no reason to kennel up your dog at the end of quail season because there is a great way to extend your enjoyment of the sport and your dog. Our spring trials run from February through April and open again in September, up to hunting season.
There is a wealth of knowledge to be shared with our veteran members and just good conversation from all members while watching the competition. The format is so close to bird hunting you can tune up your dog and your shooting skills while scoring points toward a NSTRA championship.
All registered pointing breeds are welcome. We enjoy getting to know new people, and their dogs, so bring your family or your best buddy and have some great fun participating in a NSTRA field trial.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you have about the OK-region of NSTRA.
The Oklahoma Region will have a booth at the upcoming WIldlife Expo, September 23-25th, at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK. Come visit us so we can introduce you to the next best thing to quail hunting. We will share pictures, answer questions, and get acquainted.
